Vice President of Marketing

We’re looking for an experienced VP of Marketing to join our high-energy team. As the Marketing leader, you will be responsible for marketing planning, marketing execution, and brand design. You must be able to lead your team but also contribute on your own as we continue to build our portfolio of products. The ideal candidate will be a confident and collaborative leader that can roll up their sleeves, balancing the strategic and tactical aspects of marketing and taking the lead on developing the resources needed to build the brand vision. This role is challenging – above and beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, we’re a startup, and you’ll have insane amounts of responsibility within a fast-paced organization.

  • Strategy: Assess the market opportunity and current business trends, develop and implement a strategic marketing and product innovation plan that is broadly understood and supported by management, investors, and the sales organization
  • Marketing Execution: Lead marketing initiatives that support and expand product distribution/availability and increase brand awareness, conversion, household penetration, and repeat purchase. In partnership with cross-functional teams, guide and enable the development of inspired package/product design, campaigns, marketing plans, media plans, and activations that strike the right balance of developing long-term brand equity and delivering short-term business objectives via flawless execution.
  • Market Intelligence: Leverage market and customer data, consumer research and insights, and competitive intelligence to identify new opportunities and needs in the market to support and grow existing and new efforts that will drive increased consumption
  • Innovation: Drive ongoing product innovation thorough in-depth customer analysis and understanding of the economics of the business, including profitability by product and customer, in order to maximize results and prioritize opportunities
  • Channel Marketing: Integrate marketing plans with the Sales team. Develop and implement customized, retailer-specific promotional plans that drive unit growth and support customer growth
  • Team Leadership: Inspire and develop a high-performing, forward-thinking Marketing team built around a strong culture of collaboration, marketing mastery, innovation, agility, and results-orientation.
  • Budgeting and Measurement: Drive implementation of all marketing program strategies and measures to ensure budget compliance and efficiency/effectiveness to optimize performance and maximize ROI; proactively monitor business and program results, adapt to emerging needs, and leverage external partnerships to drive ROI to new levels.
  • Strong belief in the mission and the ability to articulate our value proposition as a key differentiator vs. commodity offerings
  • Track record of success in marketing roles increasing scope, including 10+ years in CPG marketing with a high level of personal impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in small to mid-sized entrepreneurial food or CPG companies as well as larger, more structured environments.  Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set: creative, resourceful, risk taker, business savvy, adaptable
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Building brands using low cost, high impact marketing initiatives, with a specialty in building awareness and trial through owned & earned media channels
    • Developing and implementing product loyalty strategies and tactics to increase, customer value, shopping activity and shopper retention
    • Marketing strategy, digital analysis and marketing best practices to provide strategic recommendations on marketing initiatives
    • Setting the long-term brand vision and playing a lead role in executing a successful growth strategy to achieve short- and long-term business targets, including new product/market introductions and complex, cross-functional projects
  • Mastery of the CPG food marketing value chain, with strong marketing and selling experience to grocery, mass, club, specialty, and ecommerce channels
  • Energetic, self-starter with a proven results-orientation and ability to translate ideas into actions with a sense of urgency and doing “more with less” in execution.  A prolific generator of marketing ideas with a willingness to experiment in a measurable way
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, creative thinking, team leadership, planning, organizing, problem solving skills.
  • Track record of building and maintaining healthy, constructive, collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Resourcefulness to improvise and adapt to deal with daily challenges via creative problem solving
  • Excellent leadership skills, including strong presence with the ability to motivate, inspire, persuade, align, recruit and coach
