Brand Sustainability Manager
Description

In this position, you will be part of the brand division and the sustainability team.   The position reports to the global Head of Brands and works in close cooperation with the Chief Sustainability Officer and team of sustainability managers on central and brand level.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the central and the brand sustainability managers to execute and monitor the integration of the overall sustainability strategy in the North American local operations.
  • Ensure data collection and reporting from the NA brands to the yearly central sustainability report.
  • Communicate with and collaborate in partner organizations and initiatives to promote the brands’ sustainability efforts.
  • Represent the brands in industry initiatives, partnerships and external communication.
  • Collaborate with industry groups to establish best practices related to product sustainability initiatives, including but not limited to: social responsibility, community engagement, sustainable chemistry, carbon footprint, life cycle assessment and product innovation, climate change policy and action, sustainable/LEAN manufacturing, and product end of life programs.

For the US apparel brand specifically:

  • Work with leadership to develop, communicate and implement the product sustainability and corporate social responsibility strategy.
  • Manage and grow current CSR programs.
  • Track and document sustainability and CSR efforts including the preparation of an annual sustainability report.
  • Ensure product innovation and sustainability initiatives align with brand direction and consumer needs.
  • Work cross-functionally with all departments to ensure alignment and execution of the product sustainability strategy.
  • Work cross-functionally with all the internal teams to ensure innovation and fabric development has supply chain relevance and feasibility.
  • Coordinate with overseas team(s) and vendor partners on the implementation of sustainability and CSR guidelines.
  • Coordinate with overseas team(s) and vendor partners to develop and execute long-term product sustainability strategies.
  • Manage the annual completion of SAC’s Higg Index.
  • Manage implementation of Bluesign System Partnership.
  • Assist the Director of Operations with all sustainability and CSR efforts.
  • Manage compliance with government regulations regarding sustainability, chemical management and social/labor laws for all relevant local/national legislations.
  • Communicate, track and manage compliance with product sustainability strategy across the supply chain
Qualifications
  • You are structured and organized, and have an eye for details.
  • You have a pragmatic “can do attitude” and can easily switch from a strategic focus to an operational focus. You are self-propelled and motivated to initiate and generate action under own direction
  • You have strong communication skills and like to spread the sustainability message to both internal and external interested parties and partners.
  • You have a minimum of 3 years relevant and documented higher education within sustainability.
  • You have experiences working with sustainability on both strategic and operational level in a corporate environment, preferable with experience from the textile or outdoor industry.
  • You are flexible in terms of traveling, with the ability to travel up to 15% of the year.
  • You have strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
  • You are passionate for the Outdoor Industry and Travel/adventure.
